Ashmita Chand

Practice Manager

Ashmita holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (with a minor in Law and Philosophy, and a certificate in Ethics, Justice, and Law) from Simon Fraser University. She graduated in 2023, and joined the team at Winright Law just two months later as a Legal Administrative Assistant. In this role, Ashmita primarily assisted clients with understanding their enquiries and connecting them with the lawyer that would best suit their legal needs – whether that be for a simple title transfer, the purchase or sale of a business, or navigating their way through the litigation process. She found the position to be extremely rewarding, and thoroughly enjoyed being able to support both her team and her clients, especially those who once worked with retired counsel, Vince Connors and Doug Hager, while growing her administrative skills.

One year from her beginning at Winright, Ashmita transitioned into the position of Practice Manager at the firm. She now supervises the legal assistants working on the client intake team, while also working with senior management and department heads to improve internal systems surrounding operations, workflow processes, and accounting and billing procedures. For Ashmita, this allows for the perfect blend of being able to support her clients while ensuring the growth of the firm and her team. In recent months, following her two-year milestone at Winright, she has delved further into her interest of doing legal work by assisting with estate planning and estate administration matters. Ashmita also speaks fluent Fijian-Hindi.

Ashmita hopes to attend law school in the near future. Until then, she spends her time attending yoga classes, watching re-runs of Bob’s Burgers, and spending quality time with her parents as their favourite (and only) child.
