Winright Law Welcomes Dahl & Connors
Dear Friends,
I have news that is both exciting and expected.
The exciting news – we will be relocating to a new office located at Cambie and Broadway, where we will be joining a growing team of 20+ lawyers and legal assistants. For some time now, I have felt that I could use more support for myself, my staff, but more importantly, for my clients. While, on the one hand, I want to provide more support to all of you, on the other hand, I would be lying if I said that retiring in the near future is not often on my mind.
By happenchance, I have come across what I hope to be a plan that addresses both of these goals. For sometime now, I have shared with many of you that I have been pursuing various ideas. But what I really had in my mind proved elusive. Last fall, in a sort of an “out-of-the-blue” fashion, I was introduced to Winston Kam, the owner of Winright Law. We got along very well right from the start and, as they say, the rest is history and leads directly to me writing this letter. Consequently, as of April 1st, I decided to join Winright Law as Senior Counsel and, together we have formed a new division of Winright Law – “Winright Connors”. Winright is a smaller, friendlier firm like us and what is just terrific is that Winright Law offered a similar arrangement to Dennis, so the two of us and all our staff will be relocating and partnering up with the team at Winright Law. And not only are we joining with one of the top real estate and business firms in Vancouver, with us adding into the mix, they have a stronger wills and estates practice as well. Importantly, they also have a litigation team and are ready whenever that becomes necessary.
Now for the expected news – as many of you are aware, Dennis and I have been practising together for more than 30 years. As the years came and went, I have become very conscious of the passage of time and the pull to spend more time on Pender, more time with my partner and with my parents, more time to travel, and in general, more time enjoying life. At roughly this same time, after many years of advocating for and supporting the LGBTQ+ community, both Dennis and I think it is time to take a step back from full time practice as well.
To that end, the plan we have worked out together with Winright Connors gives me what I felt I needed. I will continue working with all of you, friends, family and the LGBTQ+ community for at least a couple of years, but on a schedule that allows me to balance my time between the office and our retreat on Pender Island. Both Dennis and I will be able to continue to support you in all of your legal needs and be supported by the Winright team, one of the nicest, energetic and knowledgeable group of people I have met in my career. Important for me, having been a lawyer as long as I have, I wanted to preserve as much of what I have created as I possibly could. Winright Connors has done that for me.
I also wanted to look after the people who have looked after me – like Jolanda, my friend and star paralegal for the past 20 years and known to all of you – it was critical that I was able to do that, and she and the same friendly faces you came to know at Dahl Connors, will still be with us. I sincerely hope that you and your families will continue to rely on our practice. This is another step in my life and I am proud to be able to share the warm and supporting environment that I have found at Winright Law.
Although we plan to physically move to Winright’s office this June, please note that you can still reach us at the same phone number (604-687-8752) and email addresses after we move and during our transition.
Yours sincerely,
Vince Connors
To all of Vince’s clients:
We are delighted to have Vince and his team join the Winright family. Our team has met Vince and his people and everyone looks forward to welcoming them to our offices and to working with them.
In his letter announcing these changes Vince talked about our first meeting. I can only echo his feelings. I liked him from the first minute – he has such a likeable nature about him and such a great sense of humour. His kind words of his team at Dahl Connors, and his desire to continue to provide continued support to his clients is a testament to his unwavering commitment to his clients and the ones most loyal to him – a commitment that Winright Law will continue to embody, particularly in Winright Connors.
Through Winright Connors, we recognize Dahl & Connors’ long-standing reputation of over 25 years, as well as each and every one of his 10,000 clients, a milestone that we know Dahl Connors exceeded last year. We recognize their humbled beginning located in the heart of Davie Village in the West End of Vancouver, with organizations like the West End Business Improvement Organization and LOUD Business Association, which no doubt played a huge part in creating the successful firm it is today. And we recognize their early activism in the fight for equality, and the impact of their involvement with the LGBTQ+ community.
With Vince and his team continuing to be involved with Winright Connors moving forward, we hope to provide not only the support that Vince always wanted for his clients, but also the energy, knowledge and tenacity of a firm wanting to do right by all of Vince’s clients and the impact their firm continues to leave in the West End, the LGBTQ+ community, and Vancouver at large.
And what better way to begin this journey than to recognize right at the start, the importance and imprint that Vince, Dennis, and their team left and will continue to leave on Vancouver. We are proud to be part of continuation their legacy through Winright Connors Law Corporation. This will be but one of the small ways that Vince and I strive to continue his story of great client service and our commitment to all of you.
Although I have only had the pleasure of meeting a few of you, I look forward to working with Vince, Dennis, Jolanda their team, and meeting or talking to all of you. In the meantime, rest assured that any client or friend of Vince’s or Dennis’ is certainly a cherished client and friend of ours.
